A Rare Occasion For Virginia Traverus...I always tell my grand-daughter that her mom is always watching over her. My grand-daughter and I were sitting in the guest bedroom watching television. She decided to go down stairs, when she looked out the window across the street at my neighbors house she yelled, Nana come see the Bald Eagle in the tree. I said to her , you don't see no bald eagle in the tree. It's probably a big buzzard. She said no Nana it is a Bald Eagle,I was really surprised when she said it's the bird the United States. I ran down the stairs, I stood looking out the window for 5 minutes checking out this bird. Low in behold the bird turn its head and it was definitely a Bald Eagle sitting high in the tree. How she could recognize that was a Bald Eagle sitting high in the tree is beyond me. I went to get my video camera to take a picture of this rare occasion and guess what I didn't no how to work the camera. I called my neighbor and told her to look out her window in the tree to her left and she would see a Bald Eagle in her tree. She took pictures of the Bald Eagle. Her dad is a Blackfoot Indian and to see a Bald Eagle land in her backyard meant a lot to her. The Indians believe that a Bald Eagle is a sign of gathering all your prayers and taking them back to Heaven. Soul of Bald Eagle possess an innate ability to see, dream, feel or know secret or hidden spiritual truths, both of the other realms and planes of Being, and the hidden truths of Others. Such powerful insight and perception (think of the eagle’s powerful vision and ever-alert and intense eyes), comes from both a plethora of past life experiences whose memory bubbles just below the surface of conscious recollection, and partially from present lifetime experiences which serve as lessons in developing and honing the gift of Insight.
The Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) is a bird of prey found in North America that is most recognizable as the national bird and symbol of the United States. This sea eagle has two known sub-species and forms a species pair with the White-tailed Eagle. Its range includes most of Canada and Alaska, all of the contiguous United States, and northern Mexico. It is found near large bodies of open water with an abundant food supply and old-growth trees for nesting. There are only 7,700 nesting pairs of bald eagles in the continental U.S., and even though their numbers have rebounded enough to prompt their pending removal from the Endangered Species List, conservationists say they still require extreme protections to prevent over hunting and poaching.
Did You Know: There are strict federal statute intended to safeguard the nation's symbolic bird that bars anyone from even touching a bald eagle feather without explicit government permission. If you are caught violating the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, a crime punishable by up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine.
